beauty and the beasts

Well, i've built 2.5 roofs in the last 3 weeks and when the tin arrives i can finish and call it 3. it's interesting being up on roofs; how different things look from a higher perspective. on a good day i can see mt. hood from one, the 100 plants we planted look really small from another, and the other will house the kiln..........you can imagine the giddiness. While doing all this i've been swarmed by yellow jackets on numerous occasions, we developed a relationship of you let me be and i'll let you be, swarmed by boxelder bugs, after sucking up a good 4 or 5 hundred i've learned to more or less appreciate our house as freckled. Oh the flies and ants that came to eat the mouse i accidently squished with the truck were pretty excited that i was arround too, if i even look at that mouse i start gagging; hopefully the kimmers will pick it up for me.
Regardless of all the distractions i work until sunset and take a few moments to revel in aspects of the aartpark that are pretty stunning; enjoy.............

kim's art show

tonight at the P:ear gallery in portland kim has new works showing with the theme "change". kim has been working ferociously amid out of town guests, the lure of cape kiwanda, kitten chaos, more out of town guests and my own inane ramblings that require at the very least some attention. so tonight the culmination of it all is celebrated with a bit of cheese and some fruit, so come on down and check it out.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Under construction since december '06 the aardvark aartpark is the brain child of landry deese and kim hamblin. The park, located in sheridan, OR, will be a 9 acre landscape showcase consisting of ponds, theme gardens, an old basalt/sandstone quarry, native plants, common plants, and hard to find plants. Within the park will be permanent large scale sculptures made from metal, ceramic, stone and concrete.

At the moment the gallery and studios are under construction; in fact everything is under construction. By early december '07 the anagama style woodfired kiln will be up and firing, 6 cords of wood are on site and pots are being made. The plant nursery is off and running with upwards of 600 plants potted and desperatly seeking some safety for the winter, ( under construction.)

The first large scale installation has just been confirmed and will be donated by montana artist cassiel leroux starting in november this year.

well, out to the park to work.
